Help Protect Canada’s Democracy — Sign Petition e-6579
In recent elections, ridings like Carleton, Toronto – St. Paul’s, and La Salle–Émard–Verdun saw their ballots flooded with 80 to 90+ candidates — most with no real intent to campaign or serve. This tactic, used to disrupt the democratic process, creates serious accessibility issues for voters and threatens the integrity of our elections which infringes on our Charter Rights.
That’s why we launched Petition e-6579 – a formal request to the House of Commons urging Parliament to reform nomination rules and stop coordinated mass candidacies.
The petition calls on the government to:
-
Require at least 100 unique local signatures to appear on the ballot (or 50 in certain regions);
-
Add a Declaration of Intent for all candidates confirming they plan to serve and campaign;
-
Introduce fines for knowingly filing false nominations.
The Chief Electoral Officer has already warned that these tactics “pose a risk to the integrity of the electoral process.” Now we need your support to ensure Parliament takes action.
🖊️ Sign the petition before July 12, 2025: Click here to sign
✅ Important: After signing, check your inbox for a confirmation email from the House of Commons. You must click the link inside to verify your signature — otherwise, it won’t count. If you don’t see it within 5–10 minutes, check your junk folder.
Together, we can push back against election interference and protect your right to a fair and accessible vote.
